Since 1982, Anglers United has been a strong advocate of fishing and the conservation of fish habitat and fishing waters. To date, Anglers
United has raised over $2 million that has benefited both cold water and warm water fisheries. These funds have been multiplied through partnerships and have
improved fishing and recreation at Canyon and Saguaro lakes, Lake Mary, Bartlett Lake, West Fork of the Black River, Rose Canyon and Patagonia lakes, and most notable,
the large habitat and angler access improvement effort at Lake Havasu.
This year, Anglers United has partnered with the Arizona Game and Fish Department to help meet critical challenges facing the future of
angling. Anglers United has contributed $100,000 in support of two projects:
1) Biscuit Tank Anglers United has donated $70,000 to assist the Department in re-constructing Biscuit Tank on the Ben Avery
campus and maintain it with sport fish. (Click HERE to see site plan)
2) Fishing in Neighborhood. Anglers United has donated $30,000 to partner with the Department in developing a new pilot fishing
program called Fishing in the Neighborhood (FIN). The program will target existing waters that have sport fish potential and are close to urban centers, but are
currently unmanaged.
The challenge of recruiting and retaining anglers is one of the most significant challenges facing recreational angling. The new lake and
pilot fishing program will support clinics, fishing camps and provide new fishing opportunities that will contribute significantly to the future recruitment and
retention of anglers. It is for this partnership that the Commission wishes to publicly recognize Anglers United Inc. for their significant contribution and role
in these projects.
